The driver of this bakkie reportedly lost control of the vehicle before it veered off the freeway and hit a substation near Jet Park off-ramp in Boksburg.

A driver and passenger died instantly after the bakkie they were travelling in veered off the N12 east and crashed into a substation near the Jet Park off-ramp in Boksburg on January 12.

According to the EMPD, it was just before 21:00 when emergency services were called to the accident.
When the rescue team from the Primrose station arrived at the scene, they found the pair trapped in the wrecked vehicle. They had to use Jaws of Life to extricate them from the wreckage.

The scene was subsequently handed over to the EMPD’s freeway patrol for further investigation.
