Local dies in motorbike accident

Barry has been described as a man who was always willing to help.

A gentle giant with a loving soul.

This is how Kim Joubert remembers her husband, Barry (55), who died in a hit-and-run accident on Jet Park Road, just after the Jet Park off-ramp, on January 22.

Kim explained that Barry was on his way home in Comet on his green and black Kawasaki 650 when the accident happened at around 16:30.

“We don’t know exactly what happened. Information is still sketchy as investigations are ongoing. We know that a truck was involved,” an emotional Kim said.

The bereaved wife said Barry’s death is taking a toll on the family and that they are struggling to cope.

“It’s difficult for all of us,” said Kim, who is part of the Boksburg North CPF.

She described Barry, a manager at DCD Protected Mobility, as a kind man who was always willing to help.

“He was an amazing man. He touched so many lives, and I don’t think he even realised it.”

Barry was passionate about motorbikes and loved nature and animals.

The couple recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

Kim has been deeply touched by the outpouring of support from the community.

“There have been so many messages and comments on my post on Facebook regarding the accident. I appreciate every person for their kindness,” she said.

She is appealing to anyone with information regarding the accident to contact Boksburg North Sector 4 CPF on 064 532 7052.

Barry leaves behind his wife, two daughters, family and friends. Information regarding a memorial service is not yet available.

The Boksburg Advertiser is still awaiting comment from the police.
