Erwee awarded Honourary Knight of the Year
Erwee, was awarded an Honourary Knight of the Year award.
Martin Erwee, a sales executive at East Rand Toyota in Boksburg, has always believed in going beyond the call of duty.
This was once again recognised when the Rynfield resident was honoured with the Honourary Knight of the Year award at the recent Knights Investiture ceremony at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
This year also marks the 30th year that Erwee, who has worked at East Rand Toyota for 34 years, was awarded knighthood as an honourary Automark knight.
Erwee said he is honoured and proud to have won the prestigious award.
“I was extremely nervous because I had to compete in a different category this year due to rule changes. I used to compete in the Toyota Automark Sales Executive Knight of the Year category, which I won for the past 18 consecutive years. To win this award I had to put in a lot of hard work, as I competed against the best of the best in the country.”
Erwee thanked Toyota SA for the award, his guests (clients) for their continuous support, East Rand Toyota, and most importantly, his supportive family.
The sales executive won a trip to Zanzibar with his wife, Michelle, in November.
Toyota Knights represent an elite group of salespeople who are valuable assets to their dealerships and to Toyota South Africa (SA). Not only do they contribute significantly to the profitability and viability of their dealerships, but they also promote the image of the salesperson and set aspirational standards for other Toyota salespeople.

Community Involvement
Erwee remains actively involved with numerous charity organisations, such as New Beginnings (Aruka Foundation), the Salvation Army in Benoni, Delmas Animal Shelter, Boksburg SPCA, and Adora-Bull Terrier Rescue and Rehabilitation. He is passionate about assisting the most vulnerable, including children and animals.
The Honourary Knight organises colouring-in competitions for children and treats the elderly to cookies. In one of his latest projects, he donated 24 pairs of school shoes to Nghatsanu Primary School.
“I try to help where there is a need. I also believe you don’t need money to make a difference. You can simply spend time with a senior citizen or child, for example.”
Corne de Witt, dealer principal of East Rand Toyota, said Erwee’s dedication to the branch and Toyota is unmatched.
“Being an Honourary Knight takes up much of his personal time. He applies loyalty and dedication in all aspects. This is why he is successful, and why clients return to him. He goes the extra mile and is always willing to help wherever he can. East Rand Toyota wishes him the best of luck for the future, knowing he will continue to excel,” he said.
