Roll up your sleeve at these mobile blood drives

You can save up to three lives by donating just one unit of blood.

As blood is always in demand, the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) urges community members to donate at mobile blood drives.

Some mobile blood drives you can support:

May 7: Hoerskool Dr EG Jansen, from 13:30 to 17:00;
May 24: The Garrison Driving Range, from 10:00 to 16:00;
May 26: Parkdene Boulevard Shopping Centre, from 11:00 to 16:00;
May 31: Food Lovers Boksburg (North Rand Rd), from 10:00 to 15:00.

You can also donate at the SANBS donor centre at the East Rand Mall from 10:00 to 18:00 on weekdays and from 09:00 to 15:00 on weekends and public holidays.

Donors must meet these minimum criteria:
• Weigh at least 50kg;
• Be aged between 16 and 65;
• Be in good health;
• Lead a sexually safe lifestyle;
• Consider your blood safe for transfusion;
• You can only donate every 56 days.

For information about hosting a blood drive, call Peter Mafela on 079 891 1169 or email peter.mafela@sanbs.org.za
