Business shows its woolie heart

The outlet challenges other businesses to support the cause and make a difference.

ACDC Express Boksburg has turned up the amps and electrified the Boksburg Advertiser’s annual winter wool drive.

Becoming the first ever company to actively donate towards the initiative, Willie Smit (branch manager) and Zandile Nkosi (general assistant) popped in at the Caxton Local Media offices to deliver 70 balls of yarn to support the publication’s community outreach project.

The donation will be handed over to local knitting groups to create warm woolly items to benefit non-profit organisations in their efforts to provide warmth to the less fortunate.

Smit hopes that the donation, in various hues of the company’s colours, will provide comfort to people in need.

“We care about our community,” said Smit.

“Not all of us can knit or crochet, but we can each contribute. Through collaborative effort, we will be able to make a lasting difference in the life of another.”

The drive runs from May 1 to July 31.

Donations of wool, regardless of quality, quantity or texture, as well as knitted items, such as beanies, scarves and blankets, are welcome.

Donations can be dropped off at:

• Caxton Local Media, 20 Sydney Road, Ravenswood.
