Winter Knights are ready to keep the needy warm

Over the years, Winter Knights has grown through the passion and creativity of its members.

Round Table Boksburg 17 supported thousands of underprivileged South Africans for over a decade through the Winter Knights Project, a national initiative of Round Table South Africa.

Each winter, the Table collects much-needed items such as beanies, scarves, blankets, and non-perishable food to help vulnerable communities cope with the biting cold.

This year, the Table is again stepping up and hopes to make an even greater impact.

“We want to reach as many people as possible this winter,” says Richard Ellis, chairperson of the local Table.

He encourages residents and businesses to support the cause.

How to help
Residents who wish to support Round Table Boksburg 17 can drop off donations at the Round Table Clubhouse, 32 Lancaster Road, Boksburg.

“Every item makes a difference. Together, we can bring warmth and hope to those who need it most this winter.”

About Winter Knights
The Winter Knights Project began in 2010 as an official Round Table association initiative, though its roots go back to Scottburgh, where a group of Tablers spent a freezing winter night wearing light clothing to understand what many South Africans endure during the coldest months of the year.

The idea was simple, but powerful: spend one night in the cold to raise awareness and collect donations of warm clothing and blankets for those in need.

That first act of solidarity evolved into a national campaign, with Tables across the country organising various initiatives to gather support.

Over the years, Winter Knights has grown through the passion and creativity of its members. From filling trolleys at shopping centres through R5 and R2 drives, door-to-door collections, corporate contributions, and community-led campaigns, each effort is a testament to the spirit of giving and togetherness.

This year, the local Tablers will do a R1 collection at El Ridge Corner on June 8 from 09:00 to 13:00.
