Talent galore as Legends are Made Season Three kicks off
The competition continues on June 22, with categories including hip-hop, contemporary, belly dancing, and amapiano.
Spectators were in for a treat as the highly anticipated third season of Legends are Made got under way at Woodlands International College this past weekend.
The event, founded by professional dancers Duerell Delano de Pontes from Benoni and Chanel Jacobs from Boksburg, saw participants from various studios showcase their talents across a wide range of dance styles and categories.
On June 14, dancers lit up the floor with vibrant performances in the freestyle section, which included slow dance, disco, and rock ’n roll. June 15 was dedicated to ballroom and Latin, international, American, pro-am, and showdance.
One of the participants, Mianda Maree from Center Stage Dance Studio, shared her excitement about being part of the event.
“The vibe is amazing. I just love dancing and have been doing it for 18 years. The reason I started is because of my teacher, Tonia Veldman, who saw something in me. My passion really comes from her,” said Maree.
Another local dancer, Skylar Schoeman, said that although she was feeling a bit nervous, she was ready to take on the challenge.
“I tried sports like netball, but it just wasn’t my thing. I’m passionate about dancing,” she said.
Jacobs said the talent at the competition has been amazing.

“From the little dancers who are three years old to the older dancers, we have a huge amount of talent. We are extremely proud of them.”
The competition continues on June 22, with categories including hip-hop, contemporary, belly dancing, and amapiano.
