Knockout duo from Woodlands International Senior College does South Africa proud
The school congratulates the learners on their achievements.
Cade Horn and Gianluca Del Grosso from Woodlands International College recently represented South Africa at the 11th Karatenomichi World Federation (KWF) World Conference and Karate World Cup 2025, held in Japan.
The talented pair competed in the U18 Team Kata event, where they clinched third place and brought home bronze medals, a proud achievement made all the more significant as they had only recently been awarded their KWF South Africa colours.
The duo, alongside two fellow karatekas from the Dan Triangle Karate Club, underwent advanced training in preparation for the international tournament. Their training was led by KWF chief instructor Shihan Mikio Yahara (10th Dan) and South Africa’s own Shihan Malcolm Dorfman (9th Dan), offering the young athletes an invaluable opportunity to learn from two of the highest-ranking karate masters in the world.

Senseis Chris and Christopher Anthony of the Dan Triangle Karate Club expressed immense pride in Cade and Gianluca’s participation, acknowledging the years of intense training, discipline, and commitment it took to reach this level of excellence.
“This is not just a result of talent, but of tireless dedication and a deep love for the sport,” said the Senseis.
The boys’ performance in Japan stands as a testament to South Africa’s growing presence in the global karate community, and their journey is only just beginning.
