Flood Warning: Ekurhuleni residents are advised to exercise caution

For any life-threatening emergency, residents are advised to contact the City of Ekurhuleni Life-Threatening Call Centre on 011 458 0911.

The City of Ekurhuleni’s DEMS remains on high alert following heavy downpours that affected parts of the city over the weekend and into yesterday morning.

At this stage, no life-threatening incidents have been reported or attended to by the City’s Emergency Services. However, DEMS rescue and aquatic teams remain on standby to respond swiftly to any emergencies that may arise.
Residents, motorists and pedestrians, particularly those living in low-lying areas prone to flooding, are urged to remain vigilant and exercise caution.

Safety tips:
• Motorists should maintain a safe following distance
• Ensure vehicles are roadworthy before travelling
• Pedestrians should avoid crossing flooded streams and use alternative routes if bridges are submerged
