Nedine Swart, Goedeburg Ext 3, writes:

I travel through the large intersection of Great North/Brentwood Park/High roads daily, to and from work.

The traffic lights at this intersection have not been in operation for some time now, which causes chaos – until our ‘Traffic Angel’ arrived.

There has been a traffic officer (sorry, but he looks like Eddie Murphy) directing traffic with his faithful whistle for quite some time now, both early morning and late afternoon.

This officer braves the pouring rain – it pours down and he still duly performs his duties – sunshine, rain, cold, wind, he still energetically directs us all – with a huge smile on his face and spring in his step.

The road-goers absolutely love him.

Everyone cheers him on, gives him a wave of thanks or a quick flash of their headlights in gratitude, while his pearly white smile makes all our days so much more pleasurable just for that brief moment.

I’m not sure where he came from, but he is an absolute superstar, and it would be such a privilege to see him acknowledged for the outstanding work he’s doing.

It would be such an honour to have him featured in our local newspapers, Benoni City Times and even the Boksburg Advertiser, as Atlasville borders down the road.

I know the local WhatsApp community groups are flooded with compliments, but he sincerely needs to be acknowledged for the outstanding job he is doing on a daily basis, without fail, and I couldn’t think of a better platform.

I trust you will give this some thought, it’s not often we get to experience such true passion!

Editor’s note: The efforts of this “Traffic Angel” did not go unnoticed by the Benoni City Times, and our intrepid senior journalist Jani de Beer pounced on him for a story while he was at the intersection. Many other readers have also sent in compliments. In case you missed it, read the full story BELOW (ALSO READ):
