WATCH: Early Mandela Day outreach brings hope to St Francis Care Centre
The community's efforts are expected to continue today, July 18, with several organisations planning outreach projects across the country.
On the eve of Mandela Day, the spirit of giving was on full display at St Francis Care Centre in Eveleigh, where local organisations, schools and community members came together to make a meaningful difference.
Visitors donated food, toiletries, clothing and other essential items, while residents were treated to a warm meal and special treats.

The initiative reflected the true essence of Mandela Day, encouraging individuals and organisations to dedicate their time and resources to uplifting others and strengthening their communities.
The initiative also served as an early reminder of Nelson Mandela’s enduring legacy of service, proving that even small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference.

Among the confirmed initiatives in Boksburg is the FedEx Play Parks programme, delivered in partnership with Kids Collab and the Tshisusu Foundation. The event will take place from 09:00 to 12:00 at Harambe centre in Reiger Park.
Powerhouse Models will also commemorate Mandela Day by hosting a community outreach programme at the Community Crisis Centre in Reiger Park from 11:00 to 13:00. The initiative will feature a soup kitchen and clothing drive, providing warm meals and essential clothing to residents in need.
