An organisation doing good work in your area can be one of 50 to get free security installed
Nominate an organisation that looks after the vulnerable, like GBV shelters, children's homes, old age homes and facilities for people living with disabilities.
Launching this Women’s Month (August) and in celebration of Trellidor’s 50th anniversary, the public is invited to nominate community organisations across South Africa and the United Kingdom that provide refuge, care and support to those who need it most.
This initiative, called 50 Safe Spaces, will see 50 retractable and fixed security units donated and installed across a selection of deserving organisations.
This includes shelters for survivors of gender-based violence, homes for children and older persons, facilities for people living with disabilities, and other community organisations delivering essential care and support.
Damian Judge, group CEO of Trellidor, said reaching their 50-year milestone has allowed the company to reflect on how to extend their purpose, which is helping people feel safer where they live and work, beyond customers and into the heart of communities.
“There are remarkable organisations across South Africa and the UK doing life-changing work, often with limited resources. If we can help make their spaces more secure, we hope it enables them to continue their important work with greater confidence.
“The initiative is built on a simple belief: safety is a right, not a privilege. By helping secure the organisations that already protect our communities, Trellidor hopes to contribute to a stronger, more resilient society.”
South Africans can nominate organisations they know and trust – those unsung heroes quietly making a difference.
Nominations open on August 3 and close on September 30.
Winners will be selected based on their community impact and need, and their stories will be shared throughout the two months to highlight the vital work being done across the country and the difference that safer facilities can make.
