NOTICE OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION AMENDMENT AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS 135MW CALODEX SOLAR PV FACILITY, BESS AND SUBSTATION INFRASTRUCTURE, GAUTENG PROVINCE (DFFE REF NO: 14/12/16/3/3/1/2358) Applicant: Calodex (Pty) Ltd Project Name: 135MW Calodex Solar PV and Associated Infrastructure Facility Project Location: The project is located north of Enstra Paper, near Springs in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Gauteng Province. A development footprint of 210ha in extent is authorised for the PV facility and associated infrastructure. Proposed Amendments: In terms of Regulation 31 of the EIA Regulations, as amended, it is possible for an Applicant to apply, in writing, to the competent authority for a change or deviation from the project description to be approved. The Applicant is proposing the following amendments: Amendment 1: Increase the total generation capacity of the Calodex Solar PV. Amendment 2: Include a Battery energy Storage System (BESS) and two additional onsite substations in the project components. Amendment 3: Final Facility Layout and EMPr (Condition 13 and Condition 14 of the EA). Amendment 4: Administration Changes. Amendment 5: Updates to the project description. Motivation Report available for public review and comment: Savannah Environmental has compiled a Motivation Report in support of the Amendment Application (Part 2 amendment). The Motivation Report and supporting documentation are available for public review and comment from Friday, 17 July 2026 to Tuesday, 18 August 2026.
