Do you think Eskom will be able to keep the lights on this winter?

Minister of Electricity and Energy Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has announced a plan to secure energy supply and boost private investment in the electricity grid. The Boksburg Advertiser asked locals whether they believe the government can deliver on its promise to keep the lights on this winter.

Phillip Labuschagne: The knowledge and experience are in the hands of the private sector. It is a brilliant idea and definitely doable. My only concern is that corruption could be a major obstacle. The government might struggle to implement it effectively.
Marius Botha: No, they would not be able to implement it. They cannot even fix a pothole, so how will they be able to keep the lights on?
Banele Mohanelwa: I love that they are coming up with solutions. It is up to them to implement it correctly. We would like to see a long-term solution, not a temporary fix.
Alex Botha: They should rather use solar power to generate their own electricity instead of buying it from other companies.
Orefile Motsoko: It is a great idea, but the South African government has a poor track record of keeping promises. I hope it will not push us further into debt.
