Swanepoel determined to prove he belongs in the hexagon

The local fighter is ready for his next bout

Van Dyk Park fighter Robert ‘9mm’ Swanepoel is determined to prove he belongs in the hexagon in his upcoming EFC 100 fight at the Performance Institute on December 1.

The 39-year-old will go head to head against Siswe Mnikathi in the lightweight bout.

Swanepoel said he is feeling good about the fight and preparation has been going well.

“I had a good fight camp so far,” said Swanepoel, whose record is 1-5-1.

However, the local fighter is expecting a tough battle.

“Mnikathi is a veteran with over 20 fights, so it is not going to be an easy fight.”

His message to his opponent: “I’m coming to prove that I belong with the best in the game, so I hope he is ready.”

Swanepoel won his first EFC fight on May 7 after defeating Masefi Ngoma in the EFC 94 welterweight bout at the Performance Institute.

The local fighter defeated Ngoma via TKO (strikes) at 0:39 in round two.
