Benonian Barbara Wentworth has thanked all those who helped her raise funds for CHOC at the 50th aQuelle Midmar Mile on February 11.
The 75-year old Northvilla resident completed her 30th consecutive Midmar Mile swim and also raised R50 000 for CHOC.
“A very big thank you for sponsoring me on my Midmar Mile fundraiser for CHOC. My 30th consecutive swim went well,” she said.
Wentworth lined up at the start of the event dressed in a black and white Mad Cows costume, an organisation started in 2008 by Grant and Kerrin Bain to raise funds for CHOC after losing their 20-months old daughter, Jessica, to cancer.
“I decided to raise money for CHOC. Our friends Rob and Viv Lindsay had just lost their second granddaughter to cancer. Jessica was 20 months old and Georgia was nine.
“After the second funeral and after seeing CHOC had a presence at the Mile, I decided to raise funds for the organisation.”
