Jansen upbeat about joining Kaizer Chiefs first team
The player is determined to workhard in the upcoming season.
Donay Jansen (20), a right winger for the Kaizer Chiefs reserve team, said it has always been his dream to don the first team’s kit.
Jansen, who is from Reiger Park, has been playing great football for the Amakhosi reserve side. He has scored 12 goals in the Diski Challenge, which ended on May 13.
“The rumour that I will be joining the Kaizer Chiefs senior side has motivated me. It has shown me that my hard work has been recognised. I’m really proud of myself and this will inspire me to work even harder next season,” he said.
Jansen said as a winger his job is to provide assistance, but he is happy that he managed to do more than that.

“I also scored goals. I’m very versatile and I can adapt to any situation, so if I get the formal call-up to the senior team that won’t affect my playing style. I don’t want to become a one-hit-wonder. My aim is to continue making progress and even reach my other goal of playing abroad,” he said.
He mentioned that what has kept him consistent throughout the season is that he paid attention to his coaches’ instructions.
“I also researched and studied my opponents and that helped me to be extra prepared for the matches.”
Jansen added that being skilful gives him an advantage because he is unpredictable on the field.

“I think being skilful comes naturally to me. I don’t practise these skills. I enjoy playing as a winger because it affords me the opportunity to take on players,” he stated.
Jansen played for teams in Boksburg before joining Sun United and later Amakhosi.
“Young soccer players must work hard and stay determined. Anything is possible with hard work and determination,” he concluded.
