Reid catches winning bag

In total, the 18 competing anglers caught 219 fish during the competition with Reid outmuscling the competition with the biggest bag.

The Eland Angling Club angler Craig Reid caught 25 fish totalling 14.94kg to win the club’s monthly fishing competition on May 20 at Cilliers Fishing Camp on the Vaal River.

Reid was followed closely in second place by Schalk Uys with a bag of 24 fish weighing 13.59kg.

The smallmouth yellowfish was the draw for the competition. Quintin Steyn stood out after catching a giant that weighed 0.495kg.

The club is an affiliate of the Central Gauteng Freshwater Bank Angling Association and will host their next competition on June 17 at Rpa Slov Slaughter on Vaal.
