Old Bens run riot against Edenvale

Old Bens record biggest win of the season with 8-0 rout of Edenvale
Old Bens came close to double figures as they thrashed Edenvale 8-0 at Currin Park on June 21 in the Eastern Super League.
Mike Lee’s side dominated throughout, with Rogan Robb netting a hat-trick and Seth Green scoring twice to lead the home team to their biggest win this season.
Edenvale, enduring their eighth straight defeat since beating Bedfordview on April 26, struggled to contain Old Bens. This heavy loss follows two other crushing defeats: 11-1 to Olympia on June 14 and 9-1 to Tembisa Pistols on May 3.
The game started evenly, with Edenvale pressing well in the first half. However, Old Bens took the lead just before halftime when Spiros Avgoustis scored. The second half saw a flood of goals from the home side.
Edenvale had a penalty chance early in the second half after Kwena Motswane was fouled, but Old Bens keeper Neil Bouwer saved both the initial shot and the rebound.
Seth Green energised the home attack, doubling the lead with a clever finish after a long pass from captain Liam Nourse. Robb quickly followed with two goals, including a neat near-post finish from Green’s cross.
Additional goals came from Duze’s header and Robb’s second before Nourse set up Robb’s hat-trick goal to make it 7-0. Duze sealed the rout with another goal, securing Old Bens’ second consecutive league win and moving them to 25 points on the log.
In the reserves match, Old Bens also beat Edenvale 2-0, marking their sixth win this season.
