Superman to save earth once again

The latest DVD release in the superhero, Superman franchise is Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, aka Kal-El aka, Superman.

The film takes a long time to get going, but once it does, the action doesn’t stop.

Yes, once again, as in the last Superman film, the dialogue is limited and the chemistry between our superhero and his new-found love, Louis Lane, starring Amy Adams (why, why, why?) is not as great as you would have hoped, but the film was surely extraordinary.

If you are an avid gamer, then you can appreciate this film – its hardcore action fights ring true to most action games and a lot, I mean a lot, gets destroyed.

In the film, the planet Krypton is faced with destruction due to its unstable core, and Kal-El’s father, Jor-El, the planet’s foremost scientist, sends his son to Earth, in hopes of saving his life and their kind.

Clark spends several years on Earth after his adoptive father’s death, living a nomadic life, searching for answers to his existence and why he is so different.

However, Zod seeks out Clark and threatens to destroy the planet if he doesn’t give himself up.

The humans, with Clark on their side, fight Zod in hopes of saving Earth from destruction.

The film plays heavily between flashbacks and current events.

This is a tricky style of filming to undertake for any kind of director, however, with this one it did pay off. Even though there are some questionable decisions made surrounding the framework of the film, it still scores a must see.

It is definitely a unique take on the Superman franchise.
