A 384km/h record for Continental SportContact tyres
High speeds were achieved at the exciting Papenburg 3000 event.
During the record drives at the “Papenburg 3000” high speed event, a Klasen Lamborghini Huracán Performance achieved an end speed of 384.12km/h during a 3 000-metre sprint (AutoBild sportscars, dated 11/21).
The 865kW supercar was equipped with high-tech tyres from Continental’s new SportContactTM 7 range. The dimensions fitted were 245/30 R 20 on the front axle and 305/30 R20 on the rear axle.
The record-breaking drive was part of a collaboration between the tyre manufacturer and the AutoBild sportscars editorial team on a test track in Papenburg, Lower Saxony in Germany, in which six tuning partners with seven highly tuned vehicles took part.
The other tuners at the “Papenburg 3000” also achieved their ambitious targets.
The BMW M4 Competition, brought up to 434kW by AC Schnitzer, achieved 304.16km/h, while the 662kW Brabus 900 Rocket Edition sprinted to 324.71 km/h. The 669kW and 577kW Porsche 911 Turbo S cars from MTM and Techart were also fast – achieving 344.95 km/h and 350.84 km/h respectively.
Another Porsche, the 587kW 911 Turbo, was recorded at 353.27km/h. The 736kW Audi RS6 from MTM did not do quite as well – a technical defect prevented a record-breaking drive here.
Continental and AutoBild sportscars traditionally invite different tuners to attempt to break records every two years. The test tracks are in places such as Papenburg or Nardo in southern Italy, where the maximum speeds can be driven under controlled conditions.
For the past 30 years, Continental has had its own tuning department, working in collaboration with the vehicle tuners.
