Making life’s journey better with community heroes
As part of their new campaign, The Halfway Group pays tribute to these incredible special people with their latest campaign, 'awarding a journey.'
Community hero, Landy Yeatman is the first of Halfway’s community heroes. Four years ago when she was diagnosed with Stage 3B Her2 breast cancer, it was on the journey to recovery that her initiative – People4Purpose – was born.
People4Purpose is a non-profit organisation that focuses on assisting less-fortunate families with basic necessities. During her cancer journey she received assistance, love and support and wanted to pay it forward by helping others. When Level 5 lockdown was announced during 2020’s Covid pandemic she reached out to the Randburg community for assistance in helping families in need. They did not forget Yeatman nor her service to the community and voted for her as one of Randburg Sun’s community heroes. For her continued work through People4Purpose, she is being recognised as a hero beyond her Randburg community through the Halfway campaign.
Halfway celebrates community heroes with #JourneyMade
Halfway believes in supporting and helping their communities. They are guided by a common compass – “to be better than our best, every day”. This philosophy extends to their social responsibility campaigns and leads to memorable experiences and an exceptional journey.
Landy was overcome with emotion as Halfway Toyota Fourways presented her with a R5000 cheque for People4Purpose. From the dealership Landy sets off on a mystery journey with her partner and daughter to a magnificent game lodge. As they are about to climb into the game viewing vehicle Landy gets an even bigger surprise – the Halfway team have flown in her daughter, whom Landy hasn’t seen in a year, from Thailand!
Kevin Crowie, Dealer Principal of Halfway Toyota Fourways says, “At Halfway, every moment is an opportunity to be better and do more. Whether it’s servicing your car or helping you find a new one, we go the extra mile to ensure your journey keeps getting better. Yeatman took her cancer journey and turned it into an opportunity to do better. Like our team, Landy goes the extra mile for the people in her community and it was important for us to acknowledge her courage.”
Vote for your #JourneyMade community hero by tuning into 947 in Gauteng, East Coast Radio across Kwazulu-Natal and KFM in the Western Cape throughout the month of October.
