Healthy lifestyle promoted at Boksburg Correctional Services

Living a healthy lifestyle can save your life.

The Boksburg Correctional Services in partnership with the Alberton Sport and Fitness Club hosted a wellness day at the Boksburg Correctional Services’ premises on April 19.

Spokesperson Sello Modise said they hosted the sports and wellness initiative to encourage officials to be active and take part in different sporting codes to live healthy and balanced lifestyles.

“Participation in sports can assist officials beyond the physical aspect of keeping their body strong and healthy. It can boost their mind and employees can effectively take up their duties without any hindrances.

“The initiative is important for the Department of Correctional Service because it also helps its officials,” explained Modise.

Women who were in top three in the endurance walk: Sphelele Msibi(left), Rofhiwa Maliaisi and Fhulufelo Ratshalingwa.

He mentioned that sports can instil discipline in individuals.

“Such initiatives help us with strengthening our bond as colleagues.”

A member of the club, Otis Blume, said the initiative was a success.

“We host a number of health and fitness initiatives in Alberton but this time we decided to partner up with the Boksburg Correctional Service and offer our services to the people of Boksburg.

“We are ensuring that people take care of their bodies. We are promoting healthy lifestyles,” said Blume.
He added that this is not the last time they come to Boksburg they will continue coming to the area in the future.
