Anti-hijacking team nabs three
Excellent police work by the Brakpan Anti-hijacking Team led to the recent arrest of three criminals, wanted for hijacking, theft and murder.

The team arrested two men, aged 29 and 42, at an address in Daveyton, Benoni, on Wednesday, last week, for being in possession of ammunition and a hijacked vehicle.
“The house was searched and the team seized ammunition, as well as a white Volkswagen Golf, which was allegedly hijacked in Mpumalanga,” said Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander.
The vehicle’s keys were also found in the men’s possession.
“Further investigation revealed that the two suspects are linked to several other hijacking cases in the Brakpan area,” said Joubert.
Another arrest followed on Friday, last week, when the team apprehended a 36-year-old man in Kwaggafontein, Mpumulanga.
The man was found in possession of three stolen firearms and ammunition.
Two of the firearms – a 9mm and a 7.65mm pistol — were stolen in Cullinan, near Pretoria, and the other, also a 9mm, was stolen during a robbery in Katlehong, Germiston.
“This suspect is linked to various cases, including theft, hijacking and murder, in the Brakpan, Springs and Daveyton areas,” said Joubert.
“All the suspects are expected to appear in court soon.”
