Eye on the metro — thumbs up for dental clinic

Robert Venter from Brenthurst writes: I have lived in Brakpan for the best part of 30 years and I have always heard about the bad medical services at our clinics and the council in general.

This note is to get a message to the people of our town as to why the residents have this negative attitude towards the free medical and dental services that are provided at these clinics, to mostly unemployed residents and underprivileged people.

I had just started a new job in September, after being unemployed for three months, and we had no medical aid and very little money.

My wife broke a tooth and I took her to the dental clinic in Brakpan, to see the clinic dentist.

To my surprise I met some of the finest and most dedicated people.

Everybody who works at this clinic is committed to serving the patients and to ensuring that the public are getting the best treatment that is available at present,

The staff at the Brakpan dental clinic are the friendliest people and the most caring, and, most of all, the clinic is well maintained and clean.

I, personally, think the Herald should do an article on these people, who the public take for granted.

The people might realise that the medical people face a lot of abuse from the public but when these same people need medical attention they run to the same doctors and dentists for help.

Lastly, I would encourage people to respect the medical services and the dedicated workers who do their best to help people in need.
