Six injured after bakkie rolls

Three men were critically injured and three others sustained moderate injuries when a bakkie overturned along Main Reef Road, on Monday night.

According to Russel Meiring, emergency media and client liaison coordinator for ER24, paramedics arrived on the scene to find the bakkie lying on its roof in the emergency lane.

“Paramedics discovered that the two occupants inside the bakkie, as well as the four sitting on the back of the vehicle were ejected from the vehicle during the collision.” he said.

“Emergency workers immediately began their treatment of the three critical patients, placing them on spine boards.

“A medical helicopter transported one of the critically injured while the other critical patients were transported by ambulance.”

All patients on scene were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known and investigations are underway.
