Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend (September 19, 20 and 21):

Friday

Two cars were broken into.

A laptop was stolen from a vehicle parked at an address along Pendoring Avenue, Dalpark, and a bunch of keys were stolen from a car parked along McMillan Avenue, Brakpan North.

A white Honda Ballade was stolen from Craigholm Street, Dalview.

Two burglaries were reported in Minnebron.

Television sets and jewellery were stolen from homes along Ash Street and Elton Street.

A woman was robbed and assaulted in Brenthurst.

The woman was walking along Tinker Road at about 7.30pm, when she was approached by a man begging for food.

She told him she had nothing to give him and turned around to walk away, when she was attacked by another man.

This man struck her over the head with a stick and she fell to the ground.

The pair stole her handbag, containing R250 cash, personal documents and bank cards, and fled the scene on foot.

Saturday

Four burglaries took place.

Homes along Northdene Avenue, Suniar Street in Sunair Park, Croft Street in Minnebron and Second Road in Witpoort Estates were robbed of cellphones, groceries, clothes, television sets and tools.

Sunday

Three men robbed a supermarket situated along Glamorgan Avenue, Dalview, at about 6.40pm.

Two staff members, who were standing outside the shop, were forced inside at gun point by the robbers.

The robbers then searched all the employees and took their cellphones.

A staff member was forced to open a till and the robbers helped themselves to cash.

A male customer, unaware of the robbery in progress, walked into the shop and was promptly robbed of his wallet, cellphone and car keys.

The robbers fled in a white Ford Fiesta.

A Larrendale family were held up and robbed in their home.

The robbery took place at about 8pm, at an address along Akasia Street.

The homeowner had gone outside to feed his dogs and was heading back into the house, when two men, both of whom were armed with 9mm pistols, forced their way inside.

The robbers pointed guns at the family and ordered the man, his wife and son to lie on the floor.

After searching the house, the robbers fled with jewellery, cash, two laptops and other electronic devices.
