
Friday
Two burglaries were reported.
These took place at addresses along Van Schoor Street, Brakpan North, and Summerson Street, Minnebron.
Television sets, jewellery and a safe containing knives were stolen.
A man was robbed of his wallet along Prince George Avenue, at about 4.30pm.
The man, who was laden with bags of groceries, was approached by a male who offered to help him carry the bags.
The man agreed and the pair continued on their way.
While walking along the street, another male suddenly grabbed the man’s shirt and began searching him.
He took the man’s wallet, containing R200, bank cards and personal documents, and his cellphone.
The male who had been helping to carry the bags ran away, and the robber jumped into a waiting car and fled the scene.
It is not known whether the two males were accomplices.
A 40-year-old woman was raped and robbed along the roadside of Springs Road, Withok Estates, at about 7.20pm.
The woman, who lives in Tsakane, was walking along Springs Road to catch a taxi, when a man started walking beside her.
After a short while, he suddenly grabbed her and started choking her.
The woman fell to the ground, where he beat her and then raped her.
Before fleeing on foot, the man took the woman’s cellphone and handbag.
A passing motorist stopped to assist the woman and took her to the police station, where the matter was reported.
A company situated at an address along Lemmer Road, Vulcania, was broken into, and a grinder and printer were stolen.
Saturday
A trailer and white Hyundai bakkie were stolen from an address along Gloucester Street, Rand Collieries.
A man was robbed at gunpoint at an ATM along Voortrekker Road.
The man, who had gone to withdraw cash at about 6.30am, initially cancelled his transaction after he thought the machine wasn’t working correctly.
As he walked away, however, he saw another man at the machine, who seemed to have successfully made a withdrawal.
The man returned, and while he was busy at the ATM, he felt something hard pressed against his back.
The man he had seen just minutes before, at the ATM, had a gun pointed at him.
This robber was quickly joined by another, who was also armed with a gun.
The robbers forced the man to enter his pin number, after which they removed his card from the ATM and told him to “walk away”.
The man discovered shortly afterwards that R5 000 had been withdrawn from his account.
Four burglaries were reported.
These took place at addresses along Waterval Street, Leachville, Hastings Avenue, and Carney and Mynhardt streets in Minnebron.
Television sets, jewellery, cash and a gas bottle were stolen.
An attempted break-in was reported at an address along Gert Bezuidenhout Street, Minnebron.
While nothing was stolen from the house, a sliding door had been forced open.
Sunday
Two cars were broken into.
A CD player and speakers were stolen from a car parked along Park Street, and a GPS navigator was stolen from a car parked along Augrabies Avenue, Dalpark.
A security guard was tied up and robbed at a company in Van Eck Park.
The guard, who was on duty at the business along Jan Buis Street, was approached by an armed man at about 6.45am.
The man, who was brandishing a silver firearm, tied up the guard and locked him in a storage unit.
He took the guard’s panic button, R150 and two cellphones.
The guard was rescued just before 9am, by his superior, who also claimed to have been tied up by the robber.
It is not known whether anything was stolen from the company.
