Early-morning robbery in Dalpark Ext 6 leaves woman assaulted

A woman was confronted by two armed men who assaulted her after she told them she had no money.

A woman was assaulted and robbed during an early-morning attack in Dalpark Ext 6 on August 18.

According to police information, the victim was walking near an open field along Umkomaas Avenue at around 06:00, on her way to withdraw money for transport, when she was approached by two men.

One of the men was armed with a gun, and the other was brandishing a knife.

They threatened her with the weapons and demanded money. When she told them that she had no money, the gunman hit her and she fell to the ground.

Both robbers then started assaulting her, striking her with fists. The men searched her and took her handbag, which contained her work security card and purse.

The pair demanded her bank PIN, but she refused to provide it. They then took her cellphone and fled the scene. An armed robbery case is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
