Metro ushers in festive season with a carnival parade

The festive season is around the corner and what better way to usher it in, than with a carnival parade.

The City of Ekurhuleni’s annual carnival parade is set to create a mega spectacle on the streets of Tsakane and KwaThema, with thousands expected to partake in this year’s rendition to showcase their costumes, singing, dancing and just plain entertaining the masses.

“The carnival is important because it encourages citizenry participation and it addresses the issue of skills development and job creation for artists such as costume designers, choreographers and crafters,” said Ekurhuleni metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

The carnival parade phase one will begin at the Langaville Secondary School in Tsakane, and then proceed to Bulithando Park in KwaThema for phase two, to culminate with stage performances by artists.

The parade will take place on Saturday, December 6, from 9am until 5pm.

Langaville Secondary School is situated along Black Road, Tsakane, and Bulithando Park is situated along Kgaswane Street, KwaThema.
