Man sentenced to jail for broom attack
A man who assaulted his co-worker with a broom on Valentine's Day, last year, resulting in the man's death, was recently found guilty of culpable homicide.

Mzikavise Nyumbeka (34) was sentenced to five years imprisonment when he appeared in the Brakpan Magistrates Court on Tuesday, last week.
According to Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander, the incident took place at about 3.30pm, along the roadside of the R23 (Heidelberg Road).
“The road workers were packing up after a day’s work, when an argument occurred between two of them,” said Joubert.
“The accused hit the deceased on the head with a street sweeping broom.
“He sustained a severe head wound and was taken to the Pholosong Hospital, in Tsakane, where he later died.”
The case was successfully investigated by Det Sgt Morné du Plessis.
