Loriska could be the one
Brakpan resident Loriska Bubb (25) is climbing the ladder of success and there seems to be no stopping this young and talented woman.
After countrywide casting for SABC’s new reality show, She’s The One, Loriska was selected as one of the 12 finalists.
In the show, Loriska is competing with 11 other women for the grand prize – becoming the face of Edgars.
The host of the show is Lunga Shabalala, and the judges are Kojo Baffoe and Tumi Morake.
Each week the women go through a challenge and one woman will be eliminated thereafter.
All of these women will be living together under one roof, which opens the door to friendships and catfights.
“It was difficult at first, living with 11 strangers,” said Loriska.
“All of us have different personalities, but I quickly made close friends.
“Although it is sometimes like living in a luxurious prison, at least it is luxurious.”
Loriska added that the most difficult part is not having a schedule and not knowing what is going to happen next.
Her parents, Gideon and Sheila Bubb, can fortunately keep in contact with her, but only by phone.
“It’s the strangest thing, living in a house in Johannesburg but feeling like you are so far removed from society and the people you love.
“It almost feels like a whole different country or island. They managed to make isolation a reality,” said Loriska.
Although the cameras are always on them during filming, Loriska is no stranger to television and the entertainment world.
She played Kristen de Swart in 7de Laan and is in a pop group called Mwah, with Talana Jansen van Vuuren and Franzel de Wet.
Mwah recently released a new single called ‘Nuwe Begin’, and it is currently climbing the charts in Gauteng and in Cape Town.
Loriska also recently got involved in doing voice overs and advertisements for radio.
When asked what her secret to her success is, she replied, “No secrets, but grace. Spinning and praying is what keeps me fit.”
She’s The One is on SABC 3, every Thursday, at 7.30pm.
