Update: Police pounce quickly on business robbers

Brakpan Police spokesperson Capt Joep Joubert has confirmed that there were six robbers that targeted the Jet store situated in Voortrekker Road.

“The robbers apparently took turns, since 9am this morning, to buy small items from the Jet store,” said Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander.

The six robbers went into the store, one of them armed, at 10.40am and held everybody hostage.

“They stole R4 000 and cellphones. The six robbers then sped off  in a white Toyota Camry.”

The white Toyota Camry crashed into another vehicle at 11.15am in the Benoni CBD.

Two of the suspects were arrested at the intersection.

Brakpan Police are investigating the matter and the possibility of more arrests is not excluded.
