House burglar jailed

A burglar was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment when he appeared in the Brakpan Magistrates Court on two charges of housebreaking and theft.

A housebreaking occurred at a residence in Hayes Street, Brakpan North, on July 8, 2013.

Jewellery and electrical appliances, to the estimated value of R36 000, were stolen.

Another housebreaking occurred at a residence in Hospital Road, Brakpan North, on January 20, 2014

A television set, laptops, a computer and clothing, all to the estimated value of R25 000, were stolen.

Experts found fingerprints at both scenes, that linked the suspect to the crimes, and he was arrested.

On Tuesday, last week, Sydwell Ngwenya (31) was sentenced to five years imprisonment on each count; the sentences will run concurrently.

The case was successfully investigated by Det Const Selwyn Pieterse.
