“I went to visit my mother in hospital and, while I was on my way home, I didn’t see anybody following me, but I think the fact that I live in a crescent made it easier for them to hide,” said Freddie Mahlangu (43).
He explained that he was just about to open the gate when he noticed someone approaching him with a firearm.
“Without thinking twice, I threw my car keys into my yard, because the gate was still locked,” he said.
The robber pointed a firearm at him and stole his wallet and cellphone, while another man jumped into his car.
After noticing that his accomplice didn’t have the keys to Mahlangu’s car, he immediately got out and both men jumped into a Blue Golf 4 and sped off.
“After they sped off I was still scared that they would come back and shoot me,” Mahlangu said.
