The Red Cross needs your help

The festive season is around the corner and for some families in Brakpan this signals a happy time and an exciting period of indulgence.

For many others, however, this means hunger.

The Brakpan Red Cross regularly supplies food to families in need, through its feeding scheme.

The organisation currently feeds 300 people.

This year the last day of the feeding scheme will be on Tuesday, December 8, and it will resume only on Tuesday, January 12, 2016.

During this time, many families will be without the organisation’s assistance.

The Red Cross hopes to hand out larger parcels on the last feeding day, to see people through this time, and is appealing to the Brakpan community for help.

Any items of non-perishable goods, tinned foods, pasta, instant soups, sugar, tea, coffee, mealie meal and soya mince will be gratefully received.

With Christmas in mind, donations of sweets, biscuits and cold drink will also be more than welcome.

Donations can be delivered to The SA Red Cross, 8 Muir Avenue, Brakpan, or contact us on 011 740 8883.
