Entries for Kiddies Games now open

Ekurhuleni is calling on all pre-schools in the region to submit entries to participate in this year's installment of the Ekurhuleni Kiddies Games.

The games are aimed at boosting the youngsters’ gross motor development and building confidence in their athletic abilities before they are introduced to formal sport in school.

“We also want to instil the love of sport and promote the importance of healthy living in children at a young age,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

Each pre-school is required to register a team of 10 participants consisting of five girls and five boys between the ages of four and six years old.

All registered pre-schools will be given the opportunity to participate at the first level of the competition, the area games, which will be held in March in the eastern, northern and southern regions.

Activities include ball throwing, ball hopping, ring throwing, ball kicking, ball dribbling, cycling and balancing.

This year’s Ekurhuleni Kiddies Metro Games will be hosted on May 6 at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa.

Interested pre-schools can submit their applications by registering through the area coordinator on or before Monday, February 29.

The area coordinator for Brakpan and Tsakane is Tumelo Selopyane, who can be contacted on 011 999 8209 or 079 578 0359.
