Stolen vehicle recovered

EMPD Tracing Unit members came across the vehicle while on routine patrol.

A bakkie stolen during a house robbery in Brenthurst on Monday morning (yesterday) was recovered by the EMPD Tracing Unit several hours later

The robbery took place at an address along Olga Street at about 2am.

“While on routine patrol at around 10.30am this morning (Monday) in Springs, the EMPD Tracing Unit members came across the vehicle,” said EMPD spokesperson Lieut Col Wilfred Kgasago.

“On running the number plate, the vehicle returned positive as a stolen vehicle.

“Enquiries by the metro police confirmed it as the vehicle taken during the Olga Street house robbery in Brakpan earlier.”

Brakpan Police were informed of the recovery and the vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux Legend, was taken to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep Pound in Benoni for safekeeping until the owner reclaims it.
