SA Legion hands out medals at annual Champagne Breakfast

The Brakpan branch of the South African Legion recently held its annual Champagne Breakfast at the Apex Military Base, in Dalview.

The SA Legion assists ex-service personnel and their dependents in the way of housing, pensions, employment and other general welfare.

Pro Patria, Cunene Clasp, Southern Africa, General Service, John Chard and 10 Years Loyal Service medals were handed out to recipients.

The medals were presented by the SA Legion national president Lgr Godfrey Giles and assisted by the branch chairman, Lgr Rees Davies.

A Brakpan branch member, Lgr Shawn Simpson, was awarded the General Service medal and the John Chard medal.

“A special thank you to Lgr Demetri Friend for allowing recipients to receive their long awaited, overdue medals,” said Lgr Rina Esterhuizen, the Brakpan branch secretary.

“The SA Legion Brakpan branch congratulates all the recipients and thank you to all the guests for making it a memorable day.”

The Champagne Breakfast was well attended and enjoyed by all the guests.
