A 58-year-old Brakpan man was killed in his Denneoord home last night (Monday).

The man, who sustained a single gunshot wound to the head, was discovered by his wife (29).

According to information received from Brakpan police, the wife and her mother returned from the shops to the Field Street property at about 7.43pm.

The woman had left her husband, who reportedly owns several properties in the Brakpan and Springs areas, at home watching television.

When the woman entered the house, she saw the cupboards had been opened and the contents had been strewn all over the floor.

She looked into the living room and saw her husband’s body on the couch.

The woman ran out of the house and sought help from a neighbour, who alerted the police and CPF.

It was later discovered that a .38 special revolver was missing from the man’s firearm safe.

A case of murder has been opened and Brakpan police are investigating.
