Lone hijacker strikes in Brenthurst

The hijacking occurred on the same day the Brakpan SAPS disbanded its Anti-Hijacking Task Team.

A Brenthurst resident was hijacked in the driveway of his Tweedy Street home yesterday – the same day the Brakpan SAPS Anti-Hijacking Task Team was disbanded.

According to information received from Brakpan police, the resident was confronted by a man armed with a gun at about 9.45am, as he was leaving his house.

The hijacker threatened the man with the weapon and made him lie on the ground.

The resident was searched and robbed of R300 and his wristwatch.

The hijacker fled in the resident’s vehicle, a white Kia Cerato.

A case of carjacking has been opened.
