Calling all aspiring photographers

Students will learn theory and the basics.

If you’re into photography, are between the ages of 18 and 30 and live in the eastern part of Ekurhuleni (Brakpan, Benoni, Springs), then this is for you.

The City of Ekurhuleni is offering photography classes for beginners at the Roo Hlatshwayo Community Arts Centre in Daveyton.

Students will learn theory and the basics of how cameras work while also having to apply this in practical assignments.

Themes include “Night life around Ekurhuleni”, “photo journalism”, “architecture”, “people/portraiture”, “City life”, “Landscape photography” and “Township life”.

Students will also have the opportunity to have some of their photographs selected to be exhibited at the Springs Art Gallery.

Classes, which will be held on Tuesdays from 10am to 12.30pm, start in October and run until May, next year.

Admission is free and cameras will be provided for the classes.

Application forms are available from the Springs Art Gallery and registration closes on Friday, September 16.
