Update: Prison parolee killers may have been cops

It has been reported that one or both of the shooters was wearing a police uniform.

Police are investigating whether their own members are behind the death of a prison parolee in Brakpan yesterday morning (Monday).

It has been reported that one or both of the shooters was wearing a police uniform.

The 48-year-old victim, who was released from the Boksburg Prison at 7am on day parole, was shot while sitting in a parked vehicle at an address along Silverbush Crescent, in Dalpark Extension Six.

Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander, told the Herald that the SAPS are investigating whether the shooters are real or bogus police members.

It has also been disclosed that the men were travelling in a Renault.

“An eyewitness reported seeing two occupants in a blue or green Renault Megane or Scenic fleeing the murder scene,” said Joubert.

This is allegedly the vehicle that was abandoned by the killers and set alight.

A case of murder is being investigated.
