Hijacking leaves man with a flesh wound

Shots were fired at the resident as he got out of the car and he was injured in his upper right leg.

A Dalpark Extension Six man sustained a flesh wound to his leg after he was shot at during a hijacking on Monday afternoon.

The hijacking took place at about 4pm at the corner of Voortrekker Road and Gordon Street.

According to information received from Brakpan police, the man, a resident of Touwsrivier Street, and his girlfriend were sitting in the woman’s parked white Volkswagen Polo, when two men approached them.

The pair ordered the couple to get out of the vehicle.

Shots were fired at the resident as he got out of the car and he was injured in his upper right leg.

The hijackers climbed into the Polo and drove off.

Two cellphones and R4000 in cash were inside the car.

Paramedics on the scene described the wound to police as ‘not serious’ and the man was transported to the Far East Rand Hospital by ambulance.

A case of carjacking is being investigated.
