Weekend crime round-up

A Queen Avenue resident was hospitalised, after he was strangled by a robber during a home invasion.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A Queen Avenue resident was hospitalised, after he was strangled by a robber during a home invasion.

Police arrived on the scene at about 8.10am and found the injured victim on the floor.

His hands were bound with cable ties.

It’s believed the man was confronted by three robbers armed with guns, earlier that morning.

They took him to the master bedroom, where they searched the cupboards.

One of the robbers then strangled the victim with a necktie.

The robbers fled with a camera storage device and a television set.

A case of house robbery is being investigated.

A burglary was reported at a business along Nossob Street, in Dalpark Extension Six.

A television set was stolen.

A blue Suzuki motorbike was stolen from an address along Prince George Avenue, in Brenthurst.

• Saturday – A cellphone and toolbox were stolen from a car parked at a residence along Tweedy Road, in Brenthurst.

Two residential burglaries and one business break-in were reported.

Those took place at residences along Stoffberg Avenue and Victoria Avenue respectively – and at a business along Colliery Road, in Dalview.

Stolen goods included blankets, shoes, a cellphone, cash, chairs and a fridge.

Police were called to the Mkhankwa Village informal settlement in Witpoort Estates, after a man was stabbed to death.

The 33-year-old victim died in the back of an ambulance, while being treated by paramedics on the scene.

He had been stabbed in the chest.

The incident is believed to have taken place at about 9.25pm.

A murder docket has been opened.

• Sunday – A 21-year-old woman was forced into a car, by a man who robbed her of her handbag.
