Help us spread some winter warmth

Each year, the Herald aims to collect as many blankets, socks, woollen hats, gloves and scarves as possible, and to distribute them to various welfare organisations in Brakpan.

The Herald’s annual Winter Woollies Collection project is off to a great start with a donation of hundreds of colourful and woolly socks.

The socks were donated by the children of St Columba’s School, in Benoni, who have generously supported the Herald’s project for the last four years.

The learners also donated socks to two other worthy causes.

Each year, the Herald aims to collect as many blankets, socks, woollen hats, gloves and scarves as possible, and to distribute them to various welfare organisations in Brakpan.

The project, now in its 11th year, is greatly appreciated by the beneficiaries, who treasure a blanket and a pair of warm socks to shield them from the cold.

New and knitted socks, hats, gloves and scarves, or any new or old blankets in a good, clean condition, will be accepted.

Items can be delivered to the Herald’s office, at 61 Van der Walt Street, in Dalview.

The Herald politely requests that residents do not donate any other items of clothing for this specific project.
