Public invited to comment on proposed Brakpan North mining project

Individuals and organisations can register on the Interested or Affected Party database.

Residents of Brakpan North are encouraged to comment on a mining project proposed for the area.

Newshelf 1186 (Pty) LTD is applying for a mining right over areas previously mined in the East Rand basin.

The proposed Cons Modder Project will be an underground gold mine and is located northeast of Huntingdon on Portion 3 RE of Modderfontein 76 IR.

The underground mining area is large and stretches from the States Mines Country Club to near the Far East Rand Hospital.

The project will involve re-equipping two existing shafts.

Construction is planned to begin next year with operations expected to continue thereafter for eight years.

Individuals and organisations can register on the Interested or Affected Party database by submitting contact details to Prime Resources.

Prime Resources has been appointed as the Environment Assessment Practitioner to facilitate the processes.

Those registered will be notified of further documentation available for comment and potential group meetings.
