Three hijackings in same Brakpan suburb on same day

Two of the incidents took place within five minutes of each other.

Hijackers had a field day in Dalpark Extension Six yesterday (Wednesday) and three cases of hijacking were reported to Brakpan police.

Two of the incidents took place within five minutes of each other.

According to information received from the local SAPS, the first hijacking took place at an address along Saffron Street just after 8am.

The victim was leaving home when a man appeared alongside his black Mercedes Benz and pointed a gun at him.

He instructed the victim to move to the backseat and climbed into the car.

The gunman was joined by an accomplice and they drove off.

They travelled towards Vosloorus and stopped on the side of the road near the Boksburg Prison, where a red Volkswagen Golf was waiting for them.

The victim was told to get into this vehicle and was driven to an unknown location where he was kept in the car for some time.

He overheard one of the men asking the others if they had found the “thing” – referring to the car’s tracking device.

The victim was then driven to an unspecified location and dropped off.

He sought help at the Thokoza Police Station.

A Krinkhout Street family returning home from the mall were the next victims.

Arriving home at about 7.30pm, the man, his fiancé and child were confronted by two men armed with guns.

The woman was already out of the car, but the hijackers pulled the man and child from the vehicle.

They got into the white Audi A4 and sped off.

Groceries, house keys, cellphones, cash and bank cards were inside the car.

The Audi was later recovered in Vosloorus by a vehicle tracking company.

Five minutes after this incident, a woman was robbed of her vehicle outside her house along Etosha Avenue.

She was leaving to take her friend home when two gunmen confronted her and demanded the keys to her green Ford Fiesta.

One of the hijackers tried to pull her friend into the car, but she bit him.

Valuables inside the car included a handbag, purse, cellphone and a wristwatch.
