Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (December 12 to 13):

Cases reported:

• Theft from motor vehicle: 1

• Fraud: 1
• Dealing in drugs: 1
• Tampering with/damaging infrastructure: 1
• Business robbery: 1
• Attempted murder: 1
• Residential burglary: 3
• Common assault: 1
• Hijacking: 1
• Malicious damage to property: 1

Arrests:

• Speeding: 5
• Attempted murder: 1
• Theft: 2
• Robbery with other weapon: 1
• Housebreaking and theft: 1
• Theft out of motor vehicle: 1

Attempted murder:

• A man was injured following an altercation at an entertainment venue along Wenden Avenue.

The incident took place at about 6am on Saturday when a man known to the victim pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him.

Three shots were fired at the victim, who escaped with injuries to his upper legs.

A suspect has been arrested.

Hijacking:

• A man was hijacked at the corner of Rook and Millicent streets in Brenthurst at about 2.30pm yesterday (Tuesday).

The victim was getting into his green Toyota Camry when he felt something against his back.

He turned around and saw a balaclava-clad man pointing a gun at him.

The lone hijacker pushed the victim to the ground and drove off in his car.

Business robbery:

• A Vulcania business was robbed of copper cables by a group of men yesterday morning.

The robbers, at least one of whom was armed with a gun, confronted a security guard on the Molecule Road premises at about 1.45am.

The guard was tied up and robbed of his cellphone.

Burglary:

• Rangeview Road in Dalpark.

The burglary took place yesterday.

Stolen: Groceries. A suspect has been arrested.

• Escombe Avenue.

The residence was broken into yesterday.

Stolen: Two TVs and two laptops.

• Lapping Road in Brenthurst.

The break-in occurred on Saturday.

Stolen: A motorbike battery and other valuables.

Theft from motor vehicle:

• A motorist was robbed of his car keys along the N17 highway in Brakpan.

The man pulled over just after midnight on Monday to remove an obstruction from the road.

While picking up the debris the motorist noticed two men near his car.

When he returned to the vehicle he found the keys had been taken from the ignition.
