“Police responded to a complaint of shoplifting at 4.50pm after security guards caught a suspect at the centre,” said Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for Brakpan police.
“The suspect tried to run away to a vehicle in the parking lot.
“Upon searching the vehicle, which had two occupants, 40 pairs of shoes were recovered.

“It is believed the suspects were driving from mall to mall to steal goods.
“The suspects were detained for shoplifting and possession of stolen property and were due to appear in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court,” added van Staad.
